Behind the Design Whakat

Whakat means to plant, to cause to conceive, to fertilise.

The Whakat design represents the journey from planting a seed through to harvesting from the mra, moana and awa. It also reflects the journey of conceiving, birth and the growth of tamariki mokopuna within Te Ao Mori.

Designed in Aotearoa by toi Mori artist Cy McLeod (Uhi Wero) and made with care in China.

Size: 130cm diameter.
